Sustainable House
Dar'ā, Syria

This model two-storey residence aspires to reduce energy costs, water consumption and its carbon footprint through the integrated use of new materials and systems. Built of Thermo Beton slabs on a steel structure to achieve significantly lower U-values, it employs U-PVC windows and doors for the same purpose. It also uses a ‘smart integrated water treatment system with real time water system control’ to reduce water consumption as toilets are fed by treated grey water. Solar and photovoltaic technologies are also put to use, as well as a smart control system to measure and manage energy and water consumption.
